The orthodontics that
don't show in photos.

The same system as for adults, with three differences designed for a teenager: wear indicators on every aligner, replacements for lost aligners included in the plan, and compensation for teeth that are still coming in.

Adolescence is the classic age for orthodontics: nearly all the permanent teeth are in and growth still helps. It is also the age when a visible appliance weighs the most — at school, in sport, in photos.

Invisalign Teen treats the same malocclusions as braces — crowding, spacing, crossbite, overbite — with no food restrictions and no emergencies over loose wires.

— 01 · What changes

Designed for a teenager's life.

01
Wear indicator

A blue dot on each aligner fades with hours of wear. It tells the patient, the parents and the doctor whether it is being worn enough.

02
Replacements

Aligners get lost — at school, in a restaurant, in a backpack. The Teen plan allows for replacements.

03
Erupting teeth

Space compensation for molars and premolars that have not finished coming in.

04
Sport and music

Removed to play a wind instrument; with a mouthguard on top they work in contact sports.

— 02 · How it works

Four steps, no wires.

  1. 01
    Consultation

A 60-second iTero™ scan per arch, photographs and a study. We confirm whether the case is right for aligners.

  2. 02
    ClinCheck® plan

The teenager sees their final smile on screen. In our experience, seeing it helps more than any speech about the 22 hours.

  3. 03
    Aligners

A new one every 7–14 days, 22 hours a day. Removed to eat, brush and for the important photos — then put back in.

  4. 04
    Retention

At the end, custom Vivera® retainers from the same scan. Without retention, teeth tend to drift back.

Everything patients ask us

Treatment gets longer and the next aligner may not fit. The wear indicator shows it at the check-up, and we talk about it before it becomes a problem. That is why the decision to use aligners should be the teenager's, not only the parents'.
With the aligners in, water only. They come out to eat or drink anything else — and teeth are brushed before putting them back.
Not at conversation distance. Some cases use tooth-coloured attachments, small bumps that help move specific teeth; they are far more discreet than a bracket.
Mild cases, 6–9 months; complete cases, 12–18. It depends on the diagnosis and on wear. See "How long does treatment take?" on the blog.
Worn with a mouthguard on top. For wind instruments they come out during practice.
